For the past ten years Sophie has worked as a freelance author and illustrator, writing and illustrating the children's book Beaver Tales for the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, as well as several others in process of submission. She also wrote several articles including a craft description for Highlights.

Previously Sophie worked as a park ranger/naturalist for nine years, writing exhibit text, newsletter articles, and adult and children's programs on natural history topics.
